EURECOM Alumni have great news to celebrate, David Gesbert has been re-elected by the GIE consortium as Director of the School, confirming the Board of Directors’ continued confidence in the course set since 2022.
An internationally recognised scientist and a leading figure at EURECOM for over two decades, David Gesbert brings together academic excellence, entrepreneurial spirit and a strong commitment to innovation. His renewed mandate reflects a shared ambition to further position EURECOM as a key International player in digital sciences, at the intersection of research, industry and the education of top-level engineers.
A mandate that has reshaped EURECOM
Since taking office, David Gesbert has led a series of flagship initiatives that have marked a new chapter in the School’s development.
One of the most emblematic is CIRCALIS, a high-performance computing centre dedicated to artificial intelligence in partnership with Région Sud, which now gives researchers, industrial partners and students access to state-of-the-art computing power at the heart of today’s technological challenges.
His term has also seen the launch of a new EURECOM engineering degree, strengthening the School’s academic appeal, alongside the creation of major international collaborations such as the Quantum Joint Lab with EDHEC, focused on quantum technologies for information and communications.
This dynamic is further reinforced by the Pôle Alpha campus extension, which will host the EURECOM AI Center as well as a joint incubator with EDHEC and IMT, TECHFORWARD, creating a vibrant new ecosystem dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship and advanced training.

A world pioneer in MIMO technology, David Gesbert has played a major role in shaping modern telecommunications. As a startup co-founder and recipient of both an ERC Advanced Grant and the IMT–Académie des Sciences Grand Prize, he perfectly illustrates EURECOM’s DNA: scientific excellence combined with real-world industrial impact.
